[ARCHIVED] Mayor's Corner: Bingham Creek Regional Park

Mayor's Corner Dawn R. Ramsey

It is with great excitement that the city council and I invite you to join us on June 22nd for the grand opening of Bingham Creek Regional Park! Phase one is nearly complete, and once all three phases are finished this new park is set to be the largest park in Salt Lake County, serving as a hub for recreation and leisure in our community.

We have worked tirelessly in partnership with Salt Lake County to ensure that this park is one of the most spectacular outdoor spaces in the region. It boasts amenities such as a rentable pavilion, restrooms, a bike course, a playground, and space for future sports programming. Future phases are also expected to include a destination splash pad, tennis courts, pickleball courts, additional multi-purpose sport fields (including a championship field), a bike skills course, volleyball courts, basketball courts, open lawn space, a disc golf course, and additional trails. The possibilities for outdoor activities are endless!

As we continue to develop Bingham Creek Regional Park, I am confident that it will become a unique generational gathering place and recreational center for our community. I cannot wait to see this area transform into a beautiful park where families and friends can come together to create new memories.

I am also thrilled to announce the opening of our new splash pad at Heritage Park this summer. With 17 different water spray features, including a large old-fashioned water tower and a lazy creek, this splash pad is guaranteed to provide hours of entertainment for the whole family. Plus, with several pavilions, picnic tables, and other shaded structures, you can take a break and relax under or out of the sun. This new splash pad also incorporates water conservation efforts by recirculating and treating the water (like a swimming pool), thus requiring less water overall during the summer season.

I encourage all of our residents to take advantage of the many outdoor amenities South Jordan has to offer. Whether you’re taking a leisurely walk on one of our scenic trails, having a picnic at one of our parks, or enjoying a game of basketball with friends, there’s no better way to spend a beautiful day in our community.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for June 22nd and join us for the grand opening of Bingham Creek Regional Park. It’s an event you won’t want to miss! Let’s come together and celebrate this incredible addition to our community.
