The City of South Jordan recently announced that the Gale Center of History and Culture will now be The Gale Museum. This museum, where the richness of South Jordan’s history and the wonder of a children’s museum converge, will host a Grand Reopening Event on September 9th. Known for its fun, free, and diverse exhibits, the museum has seen increasing attendance over the last year thanks to word of mouth. However, many residents remain unaware of its existence. The rebranding aims to enhance the museum’s visibility and better highlight its mission and unique offerings, particularly its child-friendly exhibits.
Visitor Feedback and Museum Enhancements
Visitor feedback has highlighted a high demand for more interactive and child-friendly exhibits. The rebranding initiative is set to align the Gale Museum’s public image with its mission of providing an enriching, family-friendly experience. The aim is to expand awareness of the museum’s offerings to families with children, local community members, schools, and educational groups by emphasizing the museum’s unique position as a fun, free, and engaging cultural hub. This initiative also seeks to clear up the confusion with other amenities in the area, ensuring that South Jordan residents recognize the distinct value The Gale Museum offers.
The rebranding will build on this foundation, continuing to enhance child-friendly exhibits that cater to the needs and interests of families. These enhancements, including painting and signage changes, aim to make The Gale Museum an even more attractive destination for educational and recreational visits. The inspiration behind the new branding is rooted in museum visitors and the South Jordan community. The museum focuses on being a family-friendly history museum with lots of hands-on exhibits, and the new logo reflects that playfulness and energy. The colors in the logo pick up the City logo’s greens and it incorporates two new shades of blue. The darker blue matches a museum-favorite object: a 1910 Detroit Automatic scale that was in the Holt Store for decades. The lighter blue reflects the role that water has always played in South Jordan: through the Jordan River and the Beckstead Ditch, and now Pure SoJo, water actively shapes our community.
Grand Reopening Celebration
The Grand Reopening promises to be a celebratory event, marking the culmination of the rebranding efforts. This event will showcase the child-friendly exhibits, aiming to draw in both new visitors and returning patrons. The public is welcome to join the celebration on Monday, September 9th from 4-6 p.m., for a ribbon-cutting, activities for kids (and kids at heart!), and the first look at the museum’s new appearance. Watch South Jordan’s social media and website to stay updated on the reopening party!
While the Gale Museum is closed for rebranding, we ask for your patience and understanding. The temporary closure is a necessary step to bring these exciting changes to life. Rest assured, it will be worth the wait. The enhanced visitor experience will offer even more opportunities for families and community members to engage with local history and culture in a fun and educational way.
