Officer Involved Shooting

SOUTH JORDAN, UT - June, 15, 2024 - Officers received a call of a suspicious person alleged to be looking through car windows. The person was located at an area park and produced a knife as they were contacted by officers. The subject was uncooperative as officers spoke with them, and less lethal force was used in an attempt to disarm and detain them. After multiple attempts to gain compliance were ineffective, the subject advanced on officers with the knife and was shot. They were taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment, where they later died.

The Officer Involved Critical Incident team has arrived at the scene to investigate this incident.

The involved officers were placed on administrative leave pending further investigation. The area of Skye Drive and Skye Park will remained closed as the investigation continues into the afternoon.
