As South Jordan continues to grow, so does the need for critical infrastructure improvements. While these projects will enhance transportation, safety, and utilities in the long run, we understand that road closures, detours, and construction impacts can be frustrating. Here’s a look at the major projects underway and what to expect in the coming months.
UDOT – 9800 South & Bangerter Interchange
A full east-west closure of 9800 South at Bangerter Highway is now in place, allowing crews to build the new freeway-style interchange. This closure will remain in effect until fall 2025. Currently, eastbound and westbound traffic can turn right onto Bangerter Highway, but that is subject to change as the project moves forward. Drivers needing to travel east or west will need to use 9000 South or 10400 South as detour routes.
- What to expect: Increased congestion, shifting traffic patterns, and delays, especially during peak hours.
- Good news: The new pedestrian bridge is now open for public use, improving connectivity for walkers and cyclists.

Jordan Basin Improvement District – 11800 South Sewer Line Replacement (2700 West to 6000 West)
Construction is currently happening between 3200 West and 3600 West, and will continue to progress westward along 11800 South.
- Temporary paving: Installed weekly as sewer pipe work is completed. This will remain in place until spring 2025, when permanent paving is scheduled.

Enbridge Gas Line Project
Starting March 1, Enbridge will begin boring under 11400 South, beginning just south of White Peach and continuing to the South Jordan/Riverton border. This phase of the project is expected to continue through June.
- What to expect: Temporary lane restrictions and intersection disruptions in affected areas.

UDOT – Mountain View Corridor Expansion
UDOT is in the design phase for the freeway section of Mountain View Corridor (MVC) between Porter Rockwell Boulevard in Herriman and Old Bingham Highway in West Jordan. Planned improvements include:
- A new concrete freeway section with grade separations at major intersections.
- Slip ramps for improved freeway access.
- 22 new bridges at 16 locations.
- Timeline: Construction is expected to begin in fall 2026.

UDOT – U-111 Realignment (South Jordan Parkway to Herriman Boulevard)
UDOT is planning an extension of U-111 from Herriman Boulevard to South Jordan Parkway, addressing future growth and improving regional mobility.
- Expected benefits: Reduced congestion, better connectivity, and improved traffic flow at U-111 and 11800 South.
- Timeline: Construction is expected to begin in fall 2026.
