Suspicious Circumstance/Daybreak School Lockouts
SOUTH JORDAN, UT – February 1, 2023
Tuesday, January 31st 2023 around 1 PM, several schools in the Daybreak area were asked to place their buildings into a “lockout” procedure related to a suspicious male in the area of Daybreak Parkway and Isla Daybreak Road. The witness stated they saw an individual with a firearm, pointing it at people in the area. Our Patrol Officers, School Resource Officers, and Detectives all quickly responded to this area to address this potentially dangerous situation. The purpose of the school lockout requests were purely a protective measure in the event this situation became mobile. It was later determined, and confirmed with the witness, they mistook an individual with a camera and tripod as having a firearm.
